Now that I have gained some experience making cotton clothes, I thought it was (already) time for me to move to the next challenge and face some more tricky fabric, such as.. Jersey!
I love wearing leggings but it’s not easy to find fun and colourfull ones, therefore, being able to make my own pairs totally makes sense.
I had a look at a few tutorials online explaining how to deal with stretchy fabric, but it seemed slightly technical, and since my fav Bristol based sewing teacher was throwing a T-Shirt & Legging sewing workshop last weekend, I didn’t hesitate one second and joined her class.
For this occasion, I bought some nice flowery grey stretchy fabric from Fabric Land (gosh, they have a terrible website, haven’t they?!), which my teacher calls Fab land.
In 2h30, we practised the use of double needles and stretch stitches (SS on your machine), we cut our patterns, we assembled our fabric, we placed an elastic at the waits and made the leg hems.
It was so much easier than I expected, and the fabric was just the right choice!
Now to many more pairs of funky leggings for happy legs!
